Being part of a small market fan base in a non-NFL city 3000 miles away is never easy.
It was obvious from the start of the 2015-16 season that it was going to be something special. As the wins piled up, it was clear that watching football on Sundays with a mixed group of other LA transplants with varied team affiliations wasn't going to cut it this year. Thanks to an existing SoCal Carolina Panthers Facebook group, we were able to connect a few fans together to meet at the Hollywood Buffalo Wild Wings.
On December 13th, 2015 a handful of Panther fans met for the first time. 2 things became very obvious:.
- The Falcons are terrible.
- Being able to watch and talk football with actual Panthers fans is something that we had sorely missed here in LA
After 2 consecutive weeks of increasing our numbers at Buffalo Wild Wings, it was time to find a new venue. As they had with the 2016 Panthers squad, the stars aligned. Enter: Beelman's Pub. We had a new home just in time for the playoffs. Like Cam Newton on the 1, this group couldn't be stopped. Throughout the playoffs our numbers continued to increase, easily hitting capacity at Beelman's - 100 Panther fans!
Though the best season in Panthers history didn't end how we all wanted, Angel City Riot has the same optimism for our group that we do for the Panthers Team - we are on the rise. With the NFL coming to Los Angeles this year, and the Panthers coming to play at the Rams in the 2016-17 season, we have a special opportunity to grow and host fellow Panthers fans. If you are a Panthers fan and living in the SoCal area, come join us at Beelman's. We can overcome the challenges of the Los Angeles Urban Sprawl. New train lines are opening and our home is centrally located near several Downtown Los Angeles train stations. We look forward to seeing you this year!
